Understanding Oliv’s Meeting Recording Modes

Learn how Oliv decides whether to record meetings botlessly through the video conferencing platform or with a visible note taker, based on who organized the meeting.

When native or botless recording is enabled for your organization, Oliv chooses the recording method based on who organized the meeting.

There are two modes:

  1. The meeting is organized by someone from your company

  2. The meeting is organized by someone outside your company

Mode 1: Your Company Organized the Meeting

  • When you or someone from your company is the meeting organizer, Oliv records directly through the video conferencing platform.

  • This is called botless recording.

  • In this mode, no visible Oliv note taker joins the meeting. Instead, the recording happens inside the meeting app itself, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or another supported platform.

  • Participants will see the recording indication in the video conferencing tool, but they will not see a separate Oliv participant on the call.

Mode 2: Someone Outside Your Company Organized the Meeting

  • In this mode, the note taker joins as a visible participant on the call. The note taker appears with your company’s name, so attendees can clearly identify who is recording the meeting.

  • If the meeting has a waiting room or lobby, the note taker may need to be admitted before recording can begin.

Summary

If your company organizes the meeting, Oliv records botlessly through the meeting platform. If an external organizer owns the meeting, Oliv joins with a visible note taker.

If botless recording is not set up for your organization, reach out to Oliv Support and connect your video conferencing admin with us. We’ll help enable it for your team.
